Alley of Floating Umbrellas
A Flock of Flying Umbrellas First Invaded Portugal and now - Saint Petersburg!
The first installation was set to one of the streets in the city of Águeda, Portugal, which attracted tourists from all over the world, thus, spreading the concept to many European cities. And now, you can find a similar installation in beautiful Saint Petersburg.
The area of Solyanoy pereulok (lane) is literally a shower of colour represented by the so-called meteorological meta-ceiling. The area will also be used to celebrate Russia day and city day of St. Petersburg. The plan also includes master-classes on painting umbrellas, concerts, performances and flash mobs.
This is the second attempt at this event as it already failed in the fall of 2014. Then it was supposed to appear on Malaya Konyushennaya Street, but the plan was never approved by the city administration.
